You might have had some well-meaning advice from others about how to remove the pungent smells only for the method to be a bust.
Enzyme cleaner can rescue flooring from carpeting to urine stained tile, furniture, and clothing from very old stains stains which someone has tried to remove through other means already.
The only thing you want to be careful of is mixing enzyme cleaners with other substances.
This means if you used a general cleaning spray or detergent, you should let it dry before giving the enzyme cleaners a try.
Use The Enzyme Cleaner
Once the concrete has dried, follow the directions on the bottle of enzyme cleaner and pour it onto the stain.
Some cleaners need to be mixed with water, while others can be used directly out of the bottle.
Let the enzyme cleaner sit on the stain for 2-3 hours to get thoroughly soaked into the stain.
The longer it sits, the better it will be able to remove the stain and the odor.
If you are in a hot climate, you may need to reapply as the cleaner starts to evaporate.
Just as in the previous step, scrub the stain while the enzyme cleaner is still on it.
For Driveway Stains Caused By Dogs
Lately, all the dogs in the neighborhood seem to think your driveway is the perfect place to pee. Neutralize the odor that is driving them to mark their territory there by mixing together 7 cups vinegar, 7 cups water, and 1 cup baking soda. Saturate the area with the solution, allow it to dry, then hose it off. The stains will be cleaned off and neighborhood dogs will find a different place to relieve themselves.

Specific Directions For Concrete Floors
Unsealed concrete may appear hard and impermeable, but it is actually like a hard sponge, with many tiny pores. Urine can soak deeply into the concrete! Removing urine from unsealed concrete can be a real challenge. Carefully follow the steps below for best results.
- Do not use any other cleaners or chemicals! Make sure the floor is dry. If there is carpet adhesive or other residue on the floor, use a scraper to remove it.
- Sweep thoroughly to remove all loose debris and dirt. Dispose of all loose material.
When Using Odorzyme:
- Spray the affected surface liberally with Odorzyme using a pump sprayer.
- Cover with plastic sheeting for 1 to 2 hours to slow the evaporation rate of Odorzyme® and allow time for the first application to soak deeply into the concrete.
- Note that as the first application of Odorzyme goes to work, the urine odor may intensify at first. This is typical with old or heavy urine deposits and indicates that the urine being loosened and is rising to the surface.
- Remove the plastic and blot the floor dry with paper towels or cloths. Expect the blotting towels or cloths to be colored yellow and smell heavily of urine. Dispose of the soiled towels or cloths.
- Reapply Odorzyme. Allow to dry 1 to 2 hours.
- Reapply as needed, with 1 to 2 hours drying time between applications, until odor is removed.
For Urine-Erase:
Once odor is removed, use a sponge mop and a minimal amount of water to remove residue from the surface.

Unsealed concrete floors wont repel pet odors as much as you might think.
Concrete is porous, meaning it can soak up offending liquid especially when its left without being cleaned.

Apply to dry surfaces only. Dilute 1:10 with lukewarm water for normal use in a low-pressure garden sprayer or watering can. Adjust dilution to maximise results.

Treat The Stains With Enzymatic Cleaner
After cleaning, you will need to treat your patio with an enzymatic cleaner. This uses good bacteria, which produce enzymes to break down the uric acid crystals. The bacteria digest the resulting smaller pieces of the crystals and break them down into carbon dioxide and water.
Check the mixing instructions carefully on the enzymatic product you buy and pour some of the cleaner onto a small area of your concrete . Use a deck brush to scrub the product into the concrete and leave it for at least 10 minutes, so the concrete has plenty of chance to absorb the solution. You may need to do this again on heavily stained or very smelly areas.
Repeat the process on any other areas of the concrete, or all of it, if you want to be sure you do not miss any urine locations. Cover the areas or whole patio with tarpaulin to slow down evaporation and allow the solution to penetrate into the concrete. Leave to dry at least overnight longer is better if possible. You do not need to rinse off the solution. Keep pets and children away from the area.
Leaving it at least overnight is important to ensure it has time to work. Just leaving it on for a couple of hours will not do the trick.;This type of cleaner should get rid of any stubborn smells, even if the pet urine got into the concrete a long time ago.

Concrete is actually porous like a sponge. If liquid is allowed to sit for a period of time, it will absorb most anything. This is why its hard to get stains out of concrete.
When urine is introduced to concrete and allowed to dry, the uric acid crystals present in urine bond tightly to the concrete. Be sure to check the first two feet of your walls from the floor up as well. Sometimes pets will urinate on the walls which will require removing and replacing the affected section of drywall to get rid of the smell.
