Tent size is a tricky subject.
Most of the time, tents are grouped by size, depending on how many people can sleep inside: 1 person tents, 2 person tents, 4 person tents, and so on.
But how do tents manufacturers define how many people can sleep inside?
They just see how many people can lay down inside the tent, taking all space available.
This means sleeping in a camping bag, with almost no space between people, and it might mean sleeping with heads next to feet.
It also means there will be no extra space for your gear.
Want to be comfortable in your tent? Then you will often have to buy a bigger size tent to make sure that:

The tent comes with what they call the Dark Room technology, so the tent blocks 98% of sunlight to keep the tent darker. This is for the situation you or your kids want to sleep while the sun is up. They use the WeatherTec system here like in their other tents, so you have patented welded floors and inverted seams. The fly protects the windows so you keep them open all the time and this makes ventilation really good here. There are vents on the roof as well which add to the good ventilation.
This is a tent for 2 seasons maximum, so for summer, late spring and early autumn. The structure must be staked out to be functional so the tent is not freestanding although it may look so.
The area is large, so you have 10 x 9 ft in the main room and 10 x 5 ft in the screen room. This makes almost 13 m², plenty of space to organize your life in the camp. The center height is 5 ft 8 in , so this is quite high, but bear in mind this is the dome shape so the volume is not so great.
What I Love About The Weathermaster Tent
- I cant get enough of the hinged doors on this tent. This is truely unique and such an amazing feature. Having this allows you to open and close the door like a regular hinged door. No more getting zippers stuck in the middle of the night.
- Very spacious yet very simple to put up. Allow 30 minutes on the first time round and you should be good.

- Incredible air flow. The entire roof is screened and has big windows which allows air to ventilate easily. Really great for limiting condensation.
My Only Recommendation
Like with all tents, I recommend spraying the tent with a waterproof substance like Atsko Silicone Water Guard. It took us 2 bottles to spray this tent which is nothing compared to the reassurance that you will stay dry all day and night. However, my main recommendation is to bring alone more heavy duty tent pegs if you predict any wild weather. Like most average priced tents, manufacturers cut corners on the quality of tent pegs.

This tent is shaped so that the screen porch comes out the front dead bang in the center. Which means you can access both rooms from the entry porch area. The screened porch room itself measures 8ft x 6ft which is 48ft2.The porch room also has a floor so no need for an extra tarp.
The main area measures 9.8ft x 17.6ft which is 172.48ft2. The total area is 220.48ft2.
The very front of the porch entry is lower than where it joins the main tent . This is to ensure water doesnt build up on the roof of the porch. It can easily flow off and around the tent in the event of heavy rain.

The tent is easy to set up, and the color-coded poles that Coleman likes to use on their bigger tents are a really nice touch that make erecting the tent a hassle free job. The waterproofing is good, even stock, although many people opt to use extra treatments to make doubly sure that they stay dry.
There are a few issues in heavy storms, however the rainfly is good for light showers. But not for the kind of extreme weather that you might encounter in some harsher environments.
