We have a very long porch so I divided it into three distinct areas an eating area with a dining table, a living area with a couch facing two chairs, and a napping zone with a daybed.
Replacing Windows With Sliding Door
Our original deck did go along the back and we had 3 windows in our family room. The most logical place for us to put our screened-in porch seemed to be off the family room. Therefore, in our screened-in porch design and plans, we decided to take out the three windows and replace them with a sliding door.
While we were nervous that we might end up losing light, it actually ended up making our family room appear much bigger and brighter. Here are the other doors near our kitchen that we replaced going out on to the deck.

I know it may seem like madness to put an addition on a new construction home, but the heart wants what it wants, and this heart wanted a screened porch and it was cost prohibitive to go through our home builder so here we are.
