Velcro To The Rescue No More Outdoor Cushions Blowing Away
We have a nice patio…but when the wind blows from the north it’s like a wind tunnel out there! And here in ND we have a lot of northerly winds. The back cushions on the chairs were always blowing off. I thought I’d hand stitch on some ties to keep them in place…..but I really didn’t want to work that hard. -) So Velcro to the rescue! Read on…..
The cushions look nice…but the backs were often being blown off by the wind.
Using industrial strength Velcro with self-adhesive backing, I cut a piece of both the “loop side” and the “hook side” to fit. As you can see, I made it so it won’t be visible when the cushion is placed up against the frame. I used the” hook side” of the Velcro to attach to the top back of the chair frame.
This is the back of the cushion. Here’s how to get the two sides of the Velcro to line up perfectly.
I used industrial strength Velcro because I had some on hand. But I do think it’ll come in handy with our strong winds. -)

This past weekend I was de-winterizing my front porch, turning it into something more appropriate for Spring / Summer. When your home has a wrap-around front porch like mine, my childhood dream come true , switching it out seasonally can be a big job. Cushions are usually a decorative touch to your décor but many times they are used to improve the comfort of chairs that may be extremely firm or even too soft. There are many different styles and types of chairs as well as many different ways to resolve the problem of cushions sliding off them.
If the chairs that you have purchased for your dining room table have padded seat cushions, chances are they are going to slide off after being used over and over again.

Put Nonslip Rubber Shelf Liner
Picking up your couch cushions from the floor every time can be put to an end by using a nonslip rubber shelf liner technique.
A roll of nonslip rubber is not expensive. When shopping makes sure, you choose the perforated one to provide more surface area for maximum adhesion.
The patterns and colors should not worry because couch cushions hide the shelf liner.
To fix it, remove the cushions and vacuum the sofa. Unroll the shelf line across the base of the seat.
Cut the liner to the equal size of the seat. If you want to join pieces of shelf liner, you can use a sewing machine to join them.
Put the liner on the seat base, tucking in the ends at the sides of the seat. Put the liner down with your hands to make sure it sticks then place the cushions back.

Place Couch Underlay Pad
The couch underlay pad plays a perfect role in helping to stop cushions from sliding off the couch.
These non-slip underlay pads are quite popular. They measure 60* 60 cm, but you can cut any size to suit your needs.
