How Do I Tension A Sail Shade
A properly installed sail shade is very easy to setup. The reputable manufacturers will include turnbuckles that can simply be tightened with a screwdriver. You simply need to place the screwdriver in the middle of the turnbuckle so that the entire piece rotates. Some of the cheaper brands of sail shades dont have these and simply attach directly to the hook. If this what you have, wed suggest buying a turnbuckle for each attachment. You can get a full installation set that includes 4 turnbuckles for less than $14 on Amazon. |

Roll-up outdoor shades are a blessing on a deck or porch with southern or western exposure on a scorching afternoon. Made from canvas, nylon, open-weave rattan, or bamboo, they help keep your outdoor and indoor space livable during the few hours each day of greatest heat and sunlight. Then they can disappear to let you enjoy cool evening breezes. Follow these directions to hang your roll-up shades quickly and effectively.
Step 1 – Choose Where to Hang Your Roll-Up Shades
You can hang roll-up outdoor shades from your porch roof between the support pillars, or on the outside of windows that overlook the porch or deck to keep your home’s interior cooler.
Step 2 – Measure for the Correct Size
Many outdoor shades come in standard sizes of 4 feet, 6 feet or 8 feet wide by 6 feet long. If these sizes are not suitable, check to see if the manufacturer will cut down a wider blind for you. Many manufacturers will happily custom-make a roll-up shade to your measurements for an extra charge. When measuring, get the full size around the outside of the window or roof beam. Write down the width first, then the length.
Step 3 – Ensure You Have the Necessary Hardware
Step 4 – Install the Support Hooks for the Roll-Up Shades

How To Hang Curtains On A Metal Patio Cover
A metal patio cover provides shade and some protection from the elements for you and your outdoor guests, but it offers little in the way of privacy or protection from pesky insects. Outdoor curtains installed beneath the patio covering offer the privacy or protection level you desire. Since the cover may not come with a means of curtain installation, sticky-backed hook and loop tape provides a means to hang the curtains and take them down, as needed. Fabric-based curtains may be tied back onto posts, or single panels tied into a knot, when not in use.
Wipe down the inside edge or edges of the patio cover with a household cleaner and a damp sponge to remove dust and debris; otherwise, the hook-and-loop tape may not adhere. Allow the patio cover to dry completely.
Unroll the hook-and-loop tape, holding one end along the inside edge of the patio cover where you want to install the curtain. Secure it in place temporarily with a squeeze clamp or large binder clip.
Continue unrolling the hook-and-loop tape, walking toward the opposite end of the patio cover. Hold the tape up against the inside edge of the patio cover and snip it where you would like the curtain to end. Use scissors, or a utility knife if cutting with scissors proves difficult.
Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for each side of the patio cover requiring a curtain. Set each strip of hook-and-loop tape near its respective side to avoid confusion.
